Maileg was founded by Danish illustrator and designer Dorthe Mailil and her husband Erik in 1999. This unique name combines their surname, Mailil, with leg, the Danish word for "play". Inspired by a love of fairy tales and childhood imagination, they seek to create toys that are a gentle alternative to the bright, brash toys of our technological age.

Maileg's creations are made with non-toxic materials and are beautifully tactile. From washable linen and cotton to solid wood, these toys and accessories are designed to be passed down through the generations. Made to hug, cuddle and keep.
