Gunnar Florning

Denmark

During the 1950s and 1960s, Danish designer Gunnar Flørning created and produced a range of carved animals for the Danish design company Laurids Lønborg. It was during this period that Gunnar Flørning also created an adorable oak elephant in collaboration with the Danish children’s author Harry Vedøe. Gunnar retired from his workshop due to a severe wood dust allergy, but his mid-century design classics endure and are still collected today for their irresistable essence of simplicity.
