Victorinox was established 125 years ago by a cutler with a social conscience. Switzerland was not always as affluent as it is today, and many nationals left the country to seek work. Karl Elsener set up his business to create work for the local community in Ibach-Schwyz and to help alleviate poverty. He went on to create a soldier's knife for the Swiss army before inventing the Swiss officer's and sports knife, which we now know as the Swiss army knife. This knife is now known and loved worldwide.
